Farmhouse Kitchen Tour – Updated!

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation

Hello friends!

Friday is almost here! Which means Jeff & I will be tackling our main floor bathroom renovation! I plan to post our ‘before’ photos and inspiration I’ve gathered for this room… (It needs serious help!) I can’t wait to get started!

One of my most popular rooms I’ve shown you is my kitchen (and my kitchen related tutorials). Since I posted our kitchen progress post a few months back we’ve finally gotten around to decorating a little bit, organizing, and adding a new shelf. We still plan to eventually get new flooring in here (please bear with me!) and a few other updates… but for now, here’s our updated Farmhouse Kitchen Tour!

Ps. Links to tutorials will be linked at the end of the post!

Here’s a reminder at what we were working with before:
Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation

And now where we are today!:

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation
This is what you see when you first enter the room. The rug you see is from Homesense.

The blue bottles are thrifted, and the cutting board is from Target. That cute elephant teapot? Wheaton’s!

The Subway sign is from Homesense.

I just love this arrangement. The tray is from Wicker Emporium, and the pitcher is a Superstore find. The Crown jars are second-hand.

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation Pssst… those flowers aren’t real, either ;) I spent more on those than I’d like to admit!

I love using these Crown jars to hold my utensils!

Okay. Enough photos from this angle of the room. (Can you tell it’s my favourite?)

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation Oops. One more. ;)

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation From this angle you can see a glimpse of our underneath storage on the island. I would like to get baskets you can’t see through to store our food, I think! But I have to say I’ve loved having an island so far.

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation For everyone who asked about how sanitary our island was for food prep – We use cutting boards, don’t worry!

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation
The towel rack on the side was found at a second hand store.

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation
Okay, this project isn’t completely done yet – but these are the shelves Jeff built for me above the L shaped cabinet – I’m pretty excited to be able to decorate around here! I think it helps finish the space off.

I had to throw in this shot. I love how you can peek into the hallway at my burlap wreath and see the living room a bit, too. See that massive ball of fur? That’s just Sawyer our giant golden retriever. He thinks he’s a lap dog (Yeah, seriously).

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation This is a section of the room I’d like to add to. That wall behind the island chairs could use a big chalkboard or antique sign. Do you have any suggestions?
You can also see a bit into our mudroom from here, I added lots of baskets on an existing shelf to create storage for shoes and mittens.

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation This little fella holds our recipe books. It has two weights to hold down difficult pages, which comes in handy big time!

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation If I could have fairy lights in every room, I would… and usually do. ;)

Farmhouse Kitchen Tour - Before and After Transformation

There’s the mirror that hangs in our back-entry. I will show you that area eventually when it’s decorated a bit more. :)
It’s always a process, isn’t it?

  1. Love your kitchen! I opened up my upper cabinets last year and painted an accent on the back, but I think I may repaint with just white. It is just a bit too much for me with the color. And your island is amazing!!! And (last thing) I have the exact same subway art as you. I don’t remember where I bought it, but loved it because we are near both Hartford & Boston.

    Have a great day!
    Angela @ Number Fifty-Three

    • Hi Angela,
Thank you so much! I’ll have to check out your cabinets when you’re finished.
I love that subway art too! So cool that you have the same one! I’m not a fan of the ‘printed’ ones… the brand who makes these signs paints them which is much more authentic in my eye. ;)

  2. Your kitchen is gorgeous! But I didn’t find info on the ceiling? Is it tin? Beautiful!

  3. Wow love how your kitchen looks, I should would love to be in an older farm house then a new house that is for sure. Looks really great and I’m just in love with your Mason Jar light…..I might have to get hubby to work on that. :-) Thanks for sharing, have a great day.

  4. Sheryll & Critters. says:

Just gorgeous is all I can say. Well except for can I please have your kitchen? Or one very much like it?

    • Thank you Sheryll! It has come a long way from it’s beginning when we first bought the house that’s for certain – Which reminds me, I forgot to add a ‘before’ photo to this update tour! Updating that now. ;)

  5. Hi Brandi – LOVE this kitchen. I want to come back to read the tutorials. I’m almost finished with my kitchen reno (pretty boring compared to this). Following you on Bloglovin.

    • Hi there Susie! Thank you so much! Congrats on almost being finished with your kitchen reno – especially if you are doing a lot of work yourself – I know how long it can take ;)
      Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. Your kitchen is so lovely! I adore that island to pieces – I can’t wait to dig around your blog and read more :) I agree on adding fairy lights to every room as well! So sweet!

  9. dianesaunders says:

So very refreshing ! Love the colors and my suggestion for the wall behind the chairs is —What about an outside picture in an old frame of your house . Wouldn’t 3-D be great but hard to do . You’re good at drawing so maybe your talents can show . Just a thought but you’ve shown well so far . xoxo

  10. What an amazing transformation! I’m hoping to start on my kitchen this year, and this is definitely an inspiration! Great job! Dee :)

  11. Your kitchen is just beautiful! The transformation is amazing. Love that you kept the tin tiles – they are my favorite part of the room! Of course, everything else is also wonderful too!

  59. This kitchen is fabulous! I still adore the island and the lighting. My favorite new item is the wooden tray on the island — love, love, love it!! And the flowers and utensils you put in it is very inspired. You go, girl!
